Daily Detox Tips

Daily detoxing doesn’t have to be time-consuming or hard on the body. As a matter of fact, doing a little detoxing daily is the safer, more consistent approach than doing larger detoxes a couple times a year. Doing a little bit every day becomes habit and part of your health ritual. You begin to enjoy doing these things because you feel so darn good!

Detoxing is a natural part of living. We eat and have bowel movements, breathe in oxygen and release carbon monoxide, drink water and urinate. Very simply put, all toxins are waste products the body doesn’t need or can’t use. The purpose of helping them move along on a regular basis is so they don’t linger in the body causing disease and unhealthy conditions.

DAILY DETOX TIPS:
Drink at least 2-3 liters of pure water a day – flavor it up a bit with fruit if you’d like or add stevia, so drink up because your kidneys need flushing. Start every day with a tall glass of water with lemon in it.

Decrease your sugar intake – limit it to stevia or a small bit of local honey for flavor. Sugar creates negative reactions in the body, especially the detox process!

Dry brush your skin – before your bath or shower, use a skin brush and make short light strokes towards the heart. Your lymph will love it and start dumping the crud they’ve held onto for years.

Eat non-GMO produce and foods with amino acids like wild fish, grass-fed beef, cage free eggs, and raw dairy (primarily goat products). Amino acids are awesome when it comes to clearing toxins out of the body.

Add flax or another healthy food fiber to your daily diet to safely speed up the bowel process.

Deep breathe in and out for 5-15 minutes a day. This not only clears out the lungs, it oxygenates your body, and calms the mind. Make this a time just for YOU.

If you have access to a sauna, use it once a week to sweat.

Take hot/cold showers – this is awesome to get the blood moving! Stand under the hot water for 5 minutes, slowly turn to as cold as you can stand it for 1-2 minutes, back to hot, then cold. Do a number of times.

Take detox supplements like magnesium, Vitamins C, D, E and K as well as antioxidants to support your body and help your liver move the junk out of the body.

Use only safe cosmetic and skin products. No sense in detoxing if you’re going to slather more gunk on your skin to be re-absorbed into the body.

Drink 1 cup of milk thistle or dandelion tea a day.

Have one large green salad a day – use arugula, spinach, kale, dandelion, bok choy and baby greens. These contain chlorophyll, which helps remove environmental toxins from the body.

Eat cruciferous vegetables a couple times a week – cabbage, brussels sprouts, and broccoli all help remove xenoestrogens and carcinogens from the body.

Release negative thoughts and thinking with meditation. Five to 15 minutes a day think about ‘nothing’, let thoughts come and go, and be in deep appreciation for all good things in your life. This is wonderful for the emotional/mental body. Stressed? When exhaling, visualize negativity right out of your body.

Juice fresh vegetables and fruits. Do a juice day once a week if you can, one day a month if you’re more comfortable.

Exercise – walk, jog, dance, kick box, or any combo thereof, just get moving and do at least 15-20 minutes a day.

Laugh! Whatever and whoever makes you laugh, do it often!

REST! While falling asleep at night, go over the positive things you experienced during the day, and set that positive intention before falling asleep. Have a bad day? Let it go, create a new tomorrow in your mind, and sleep at least 8 hours.

At first, try and fit as many of these as you can in the course of a week. Over a few weeks’ time, you’ll be implementing most of these on a daily basis – the idea is to not get stressed when doing them!
