No Flu Vaccine, Just Natural Immunity for Children

Posted by drost on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

In late 2007, New Jersey became the nation’s first state that requires preschoolers to get flu shots. Beginning September 2008, any child who attends licensed day care or preschool will be required to receive a yearly flu shot. Children with both private health insurance, as well as low-income families, will have the shots paid for. However, this is not the issue at hand.

This law is causing problems not only because it challenges our liberties, but there are legal issues surrounding the administration of these vaccines and what they do to a young child’s immune system. More and more evidence is showing that certain vaccines could be challenging our ability to react normally to health challenges and may take months to rebuild our immunity pre-inoculation.

Alternative physicians still agree the best way to avoid health challenges is to strengthen our immunity through nutrition, with supplementation and IV nutrient support as needed. Fresh fruits and vegetables, vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, iron and selenium are especially good for supporting immunity. For small babies, mother’s breast milk is still best.

Posted by drost on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Studies show a correlation between declining physical performance in elderly people and decreased serum Vitamin D levels. 25-hydroxyvitamin D is the main circulating form of Vitamin D.

With age the body’s ability to form Vitamin D from sunlight diminishes. Vitamin D levels are less than favorable among many people. Cod liver oil is a good source of Vitamin D.

Vitamin K and Coumadin

Research indicates Vitamin K in low doses helps stabilize coumadin’s anti-coagulant effects thus stabilizing daily fluctuations in INR levels. (INRs are the International Normalized Ratios which measure how fast blood clots.)

Vitamin K is also necessary for optimal cardiovascular function and bone health.

Green leafy vegetables are a good source of Vitamin K.

Electrical Fields and Health Problems

Posted by drost on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

A London study has found that electrical field risks in our home, hospital and office environments are much higher than expected. There are, however, many things we can do to reduce the negative effects of these fields.

We can take precautions with our home equipment by keeping our PCs and laptops grounded as recommended, as well as keeping humidity levels normalized in the home.

More and more attention is being given to environmental toxins and their link to cancer. The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute established a center to study and understand how to improve our external environments to reduce our risks and help prevent cancer from occurring.

The National Cancer Institute as well as the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences speculate that 80-90% of all cancers involve environmental factors. These factors are key especially when people are exposed to chemicals and toxins on a regular basis.

Posted by drost on 13 May 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

There is currently much debate on the subject of vaccine-related autism. The studies have been proven, and dots have been connected from injecting children with thimerosol, (the preservative used in vaccines) and the mercury overload in autism. So why the continued rise in autism? Our own government agencies’ interference on telling the American people the truth about childhood vaccinations.

There are a number of skin-conscious companies that use organic ingredients, without preservatives, metals and other toxins. Some companies accommodate their vegan customers by using plant waxes instead of beeswax. They offer fragrance-free products as well as those with plant and flower oils for those who prefer scent on their skin.

Keep in mind, even though some companies may list their product as “organic” or “natural”, there may be hidden parabens, undesired ingredients or scents. So read those labels - and remember - if it’s not safe to eat it’s not safe for your skin!
