Children and Lead Poisoning

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Recent public concern has sparked the interest in the dangerous effects that lead has on children when it’s been ingested. The largest sources of ingestion come from eating deteriorated paint both inside and out the home, and, more recently, from putting toys containing lead into their mouths. Other sources are chewing on keys, eating from lead-base pottery or pots, being exposed to outside sources, etc.

The smallest specks of this dust can produce devastating effects, which means strong detoxification measures and chelation for the children. Once ingested, lead seeps into the bloodstream and is absorbed throughout the body tissues and organs, as well as teeth and bones. Serious health problems occur when high amounts are ingested.

Focus On Breast Health and Cancer Prevention

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

With an increase of breast cancer cases in recent years, and fewer cures, it begs the question, “Are we really doing all we can to both prevent and treat this female cancer?”

Much has been said recently in the media regarding breast cancer. The media has focused on the dangers of aluminum metals in personal products (particularly in female deodorants), the benefits of foods and Vitamin D for both cancer prevention and treatment, and the debate of thermography versus mammography versus MRI.

Many women are opting for newer, lesser invasive options to choose from. They’re choosing breast health over breast disease. No matter which treatments they choose, they’re empowering themselves to be in charge of their choices for testing, and learning which foods can prevent and help them heal.

Antioxidants Might Fight Fat?

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Antioxidant benefits are found in fruits, vegetables, tea, wine and many other foods. A recent study by researchers at Taiwan’s National Chung Hsing University found another benefit may include tweaking the fat cells such that they may curb obesity and assist in healing the heart.

One of the researchers included Gow-Chin Yen, PhD, a department of biotechnology and food science at the university. The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry has provided test study results. The study found that flavonoids (antioxidants) and phenolic acid tweaked the fat cells in mice.

Researchers found that the fat cells didn’t disappear or die off, but rather they cut heart hazardous triglyceride production by curbing the necessary enzyme which makes them.

According to the study, the enzymes were reduced by the phenolic acid o-coumaric acid and the flavonoid rutin. The researchers are in agreement that additional studies are needed to see if fat cells and antioxidants will have the same reaction in the human body.

In the meantime, this research supports eating a produce-based antioxidant-rich healthy diet.  One good way to add to your daily intake is with our Super Antioxidant Syrup, containing organic blueberry, blackberry, dark cherry and pomegranate concentrates.  Ask your doctor to learn more about it.

Personal Products and Cosmetic Chemicals

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

They’re in our shampoos, conditioners, sunscreens, body lotions, perfumes, cosmetics and house products. And many times when we believe these are good for us, it quite often is not the case. The chemicals used in most products we purchase at the store have harmful effects in our body. Even the use of one of these products on a regular basis can do much harm over the long run. The truth is, many of us use all these products, which significantly puts us in harm’s way to break down our immune systems and introduce allergens, carcinogens and much more.

Learn to read labels and avoid the toxic twelve that are best avoided altogether. While you may not noticeably feel the effects of using one or two of these, a lifetime exposure to, and elimination from, them can certainly make a difference in your health.

The Right To Refuse Childhood Vaccinations

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Not many controversial subjects can strike up as much emotion, anger, fear and frustration as that of the childhood vaccination debate.

Thimerosal is the preservative used in vaccines. Thimerosol is a thiosalicylate salt of ethylmercury. The mercury in the injected thimerosol is extremely toxic and converts to ethylmercury, which can damage nerves and brain cells. Unlike adults, babies penetrate the mercury more since they do not have a blood-brain barrier. In addition, they have challenges excreting mercury since they don’t yet produce bile to help them excrete it from the body. Also, if the person administering the injection does not shake the vial as directed before drawing out the dose, there is a possibility they’ll get much more than the intended amount of mercury.

In recent years things have become even more heated as parents are pushing back against government regulations and school policies that refuse children to attend class based on their parents’ decision to refuse recommended vaccines.

Far Infrared Sauna

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Steam baths and saunas have been used for hundreds of years to support detoxification in the body. Many alternative physicians are integrating this modality into their treatment protocols to support their patients’ detoxification of heavy metals and other toxins via the sweat. Far-Infrared (FIR) heat stimulates the body’s process to release the waste materials.

FIR saunas generate a heat energy not by raising the temperature in the air, but rather a soft infrared radiation heat directly onto the body. The treatment helps the body to sweat, which can reduce stress, remove toxins, relieve body aches and improve the immune system. It also can promote healthier skin tone and help with blood flow and circulation. Because it increases metabolic rate it can contribute to weight loss as well.

A typical session lasts from 10 to 20 minutes. Even this short of a time can increase the heart rate by over 50% which compares to the same metabolic rate one obtains from physical exercise. And for those who can’t or don’t exercise, you can still obtain great healing benefits from sweating in the sauna.

Mercury Poison in Your Mouth

Posted by drost on 21 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Recent newspaper articles suggest the dangers of mercury in the air we breathe and the fish we eat. Why all the sidestepping around the most obvious source of mercury toxicity? This source comes from the oral cavity in the form of amalgam fillings, which contain 50% mercury. Some toxicologists recognize there are 3 forms of mercury, but usually only elaborate on 2 of these forms, completely avoiding dental mercury in the mouth. The dominating source of mercury in the central nervous system comes from mercury-based amalgam fillings in the mouth.“The World Health Organization has calculated that the average human daily dose of mercury from various sources are: Dental amalgam = 3.0-17.0 mg/day (Hg vapor) Fish and Seafood = 2.3 mg/day (methylmercury) Other food = 0.3 mg/day(inorganic Hg) Air & Water = Negligible traces (NOTE mg = Micrograms)” (World Health Organization Figures, from Environmental Health Criteria 118: Inorganic Mercury, Geneva, 1991. These figures confirm Amalgam as #1 average source for Environmental Mercury exposure.)The World Health Organization, including Lars Friberg – their lead toxicologist, and numerous other experts and scientists have confirmed that amalgam dental fillings are the number one source for environmental mercury exposure. The ADA claims mercury is very safe in the mouth 24/7 and at the same time urges dentists take precautions while disposing of it in biohazardous containers. Patients must educate themselves and make the decision as to whether or not they want this metal in their mouths.Persons who suspect mercury toxicity must get proper pre-removal diagnostic testing done to prepare for mercury detoxification from the body. To avoid an even worse health situation they must work with experienced physicians and dentists who fully understand mercury removal safety protocols and support of the body while chelating. Mercury removal both from the mouth and detoxing from the body must be taken seriously. It is critical that amalgam filling replacements be properly tested for by someone familiar with both proper bonding techniques and possible incompatibility issues from the new materials. Chelation from the body needs to be done in both a safe and timely manner. It’s good to have a physician do a checkup to make sure the detox organs are working properly and can support a good chelation program.Mercury toxicity most certainly does not affect everyone the same. Talk to your physician about the necessary precautions before and after amalgam removal. Ask your dentist about the safety and compatibility of materials.
